Blessing of the Mayor of Jerusalem

Dear Friends,

Welcome to Jerusalem! We are honored to host the 2018 International Children’s Games.

The Jerusalem International Children’s Games will include over 1,500 children from ages thirteen to fifteen, with 4,000 visitors and families accompanying the athletes. These children from around the world will compete in nine sports in Jerusalem’s new, state-of-the-art facilities.

Jerusalem is currently undergoing a burgeoning sports renaissance, which includes the opening of many new arenas and dozens of international sporting events each year. The International Children’s Games joins this renaissance, which already includes the Maccabiah, the new Kraft Family Sports Campus, the upgraded Teddy Stadium, the Jerusalem Pais Arena, and a new regulation size hockey rink. Jerusalem is continuously solidifying its place as the capital of sport in Israel.

Sports provide a special and enjoyable opportunity to promote the values of tolerance, mutual respect and teamwork, especially in the city of Jerusalem. I am sure that the young athletes coming to Jerusalem will have a unique experience. I look forward to welcoming you at the 2018 International Children’s Games.

Sincerely,

Nir Barkat

Mayor of Jerusalem
